Statement Of Expectation

What You Can Expect From Us:

  • We will give you as much information on the dog as we have from either previous owners or the fosterers.

  • Where needed we will arrange help with transporting dogs.

  • We provide 24-hour support in a group chat. This is ongoing even if a dog is adopted.

  • We will register the dog at the local vets or specialists as the need arises.

  • We will cover any veterinary costs whilst the dog is in the foster/adoption trial period. We will pay the vet directly.

  • We will share our knowledge and experience of the breed with you to help with any dog in your care. Supporting you with our varied knowledge and top tips.

  • We will be understanding and aim to work with you, being flexible in our approach for the good of the dog.

  • We strive to always have our dogs and family’s best interests at heart, and as such we will always do our best for you and the dog.

  • We as a team like to have a laugh, if you like a bit of banter, we’d love you to join in. We pride ourselves on being approachable and treating others as we like to be treated ourselves. As such we treat you as part of the Frenchie & Friends Foundation Family.

What We Expect From You:

  • You can confirm that all family members agree to fostering/adopting a dog.

  • To notify us should you obtain a dog from elsewhere prior to us placing a dog with you.

  • To notify us of any change in circumstances.

  • Let us know if you have any upcoming holidays/major events booked.

  • You are in agreement that the foster/adoption trial period will be a minimum 2-week period unless evidence of aggression is given towards a family member (human/animal).

  • We will expect you to travel at least some distance to collect a dog, with some flexibility required.

  • You agree to interact with the team on a daily basis, providing updates as to how the dog is doing. Including good, bad and in between. You are our eyes and ears for any dog.

  • We will expect you to take a dog to vet appointments as necessary, at times this will be to a vet of our choosing. (We do aim to use your local as much as possible but there are occasions that will require travel to one of our trusted vets).

  • You accept that a dog can take time to decompress and settle into your home.

  • Do you acknowledge that the majority of rescue dogs will come with some degree of baggage, some may not. If they do, can you agree to work and help the dog and not give up at the first hurdle.

  • You will be expected to complete a behaviour assessment every 7 days on your foster dog.

  • If you decide to go on to adopt your foster dog, each dog has an adoption fee that will be payable within 7 days of the agreement to adopt and we do not offer payment plans.

  • If you decide not to adopt we will need information from you regarding your foster dog to help us choose the right forever home for them. We will also need some patience and flexibility from you to ensure a smooth transition to the new home.

  • When taking a dog please take time to read our fostering guidelines and raise any questions you may have with the team.

Other Points:

  • As we are not a kennel-based rescue unfortunately meet and greets are not possible.

  • We would be unwilling to move a dog for reasons such as toileting in the home, puppies also toilet indoors until trained. Even though this is an adult dog do not expect any different.

  • We ask that you do not change the dogs name whilst it is in foster or on adoption trial with you, this time in their lives is confusing enough already.

  • When collecting a dog please do not take your resident dog with you.

  • When introducing a new dog to your resident dog please do this in an outside on neutral territory.

  • We may ask invasive questions regarding the dog in your care, this is not to cause any upset but so we can help in any way we can should any issues arise.

  • Rudeness and abuse will not be tolerated to any member of our team. You will be immediately removed from the rescue.
